SARAI Gallery is pleased to announce its debut participation at Art Brussels with a solo presentation of paintings and drawings by female Iranian artist Shiva Noroozi (1980). The 30th Art Brussels edition is due to take place from April 20 - 23, 2023 at Brussels Expo, Brussels, Belgium.
One of Khor Art Initiative 2021's top artists, Shiva Noroozi represents a rising generation of wonderfully talented female artists who pursue their unique visions with an inventive formal touch. Inspired by the Persian painting tradition in her striking colors, peculiar landscape features, and motifs, Noroozi paints stylized, symbolic, and often solitary figures against warm, serene, and vast landscapes whose meditative states and surroundings seem to echo her own quiet and peaceful existence on an island in southern Iran. The figures' large proportions in comparison to their surroundings invite the notion of human as a "microcosm" and the universe as a "macrocosm". The human body is often well integrated into the landscape, sometimes light like the clouds, in the sky, and other times sturdy like a stone or a habitat. Human figures and the universe, thus, complement each other in Noroozi's unifying vision.
