SARADIPOUR Art (SARAI) Gallery is pleased to present "Vagrant in Time", a solo presentation by Iranian artist Alireza Jahromi. In "Vagrant in Time", horses have become the subject of Jahromi's formal manipulations. The artist developed an interest in the shapes and behaviors of horses since childhood. In addition to their fascinating forms and qualities as large, tamable yet sometimes unpredictable animals, these horses also seem to represent various human emotional and existential states. Like sounds suspended in times and space, they appear lost and disoriented.
Developed from 2014 to 2018, "Vagrant in Time" is part of Jahromi's quest for novel imagery by overlapping shapes and forms of different characteristics and levels of transparency. His works incorporate both traditional and contemporary painting aesthetic appeals. His compositions are inspired by baroque paintings and modern architecture, among other influences. His color palette throughout the series ranges from vibrant blues, greens, and pinks to hushed degrees of brown, yet the resultant image is always tonally and chromatically balanced. His spatial strategy seems to suggest flatness and depth all at once, which is a rather modern quality.
