Neda Kashani (b. 1983, Iran) holds a BA in graphic design. She began her artistic experiment by line drawing using pencil and ballpoint on paper, and most of her works were nude body figures.
Since showing nude figures has been banned in Iran, she began working on her latest series called "Scissors" in 2011 by painting scissors in form of still life using acrylic color on canvas. In the beginning, the compositions were often inspired by figurative arts, but ultimately the figures in the shape of scissors turned into an allegory for censorship. Her ongoing series is inspired by society and the artist's life conditions such as the limitations and challenges she had endured both in her life and art practice.
