Shilan Ebrahimi (b. 1984, Iran) has a bachelor's degree in painting. She has collaborated with two acclaimed contemporary Iranian painters, Reza Derakhshani and Mehrdad Mohebali as an assistant. Ebrahimi was born during the Iran-Iraq war and grew up in the post-war era. Her work reflects experiencing political and social crises, the severe economic recession of the post-war years, and the efforts of people from her generation to overcome these conditions. In the "Hope" series, the artist portrays rusty people who seem to have just risen to get behind the starting line of a running race; People who are trying to run past the fatigue of the years of war and hopefully run, at full speed, towards a better future.
