Fatemeh Shakoori (b. 1979, Iran) studied fashion design and artistic research. She started teaching at schools, institutions, and universities in 2001 and has been a board member of the Islamic Art Association of Iran since 2013. Things like Icons, steel birds, lanterns, and flags used in religious rites in Iran have always interested the artist since childhood. Shakoori has spent the past couple of years studying the visual and conceptual characteristics of these objects through different artistic media. In her latest draughtsmanly exploration in the "In Praise of Shadows" series, the artist visualized these objects as living creatures rising from the shadows in abstract intertwined forms.
Fatemeh Shakoori was shortlisted both at Khor Art Initiative 2020 and 2021.
