Samaneh Yousefi (b.1988, Iran) received her B.A. in painting from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. She has also received several national art awards. The "Atrium" series - which Yousefi started working on in 2015 - is a study of women often listening to music in different locations. However, in her latest works, the human presence has faded away and the focus now is on the environments and objects that were previously used only as a supporting prop. Yousefi's use of theatrical spotlighting on the beds gives them a more dramatic look, worthy of more attention. Unmade beds with white sheets have become a symbol of privacy, fertility, and womanhood for the artist.
