Murtaza Vali (b. 1974, UAE) is a writer, art historian, and curator who currently lives and works between Sharjah and Brooklyn. Holding an MA in art history and archaeology from New York University's Institute of Fine Arts, he has been an independent critic since 2005, and his reviews, essays, profiles, and interviews have appeared regularly in such publications as Artforum.com, ArtReview, Art India, Bidoun Magazine, and ArtAsiaPacific, where he is contributing editor. Vali has been a visiting critic at Yale's School of Art and Cornell's College of Architecture, Art, and Planning and is an Adjunct Curator at the Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai as well as a Visiting Instructor at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn. In 2010, he served on the Selection Jury for Sharjah Art Foundation Production Programme Grants.
