Nancy Adajania (1971) is an art critic, cultural theorist, and independent curator based in Bombay, India. She holds a BA in politics from Elphinstone College, a degree in Social Communications Media from the Sophia Polytechnic, Bombay, and she studied film at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, India. In her writings and lectures, Adajania addresses multiple contemporary art facets including the relationship of art to the public sphere, the prehistory of new media art, public art, the biennial culture, and interdisciplinary art practices. Her essays and reviews have been published in Springerin (Vienna), Metamute (London), Art 21 (Paris), Art Asia Pacific (New York) and X-Tra (Los Angeles) among others.
Adajania was the artistic co-director of the 9th Gwangju Biennale, Gwangju, Korea in 2012, and juror in video, film and new media section at Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, Germany between 2015 and 2017. Most recently, she has been the curator of Art Dubai's Bawwaba 2020.
