Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Iva Gueorguieva (1974) is a visual artist based in Los Angeles, California. With an MFA from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and a BA in philosophy from Goucher College in Baltimore, she has taught painting and drawing at UCLA and Claremont Graduate University School of Arts and Humanities. Gueorguieva has been awarded several grants and residencies including the Pollock-Krasner Grant for 2006 and has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in the US, Germany, England, and Bulgaria. Her recent solo shows were held at Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Miami, and Acme Gallery, Los Angeles. Gueorguieva's works also appear in several public and private collections, including Museum of Contemporary Art and Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
