《The road to love has no roadsides》
The development of an artwork in the artist's mind is far more important than its development on canvas. The path that the artist traverses is not unlike Suluk (a spiritual journey). A path along which themes and tools techniques and even the artist himself go through many transformations. Ali Zakeri tells of his countless experiences of painting his ideas in small scales and all the years he spent contemplating and reinventing the subject in such a way that they seem parallel to those fights appearing on canvases; the artist points out how time after time he has been discouraged from painting those works on larger canvases. Yet in the end this challenge has ended in triumph and those works have been executed in their final dimensions.
To journey is to arrive.
